El 5 de febrero de 1996 en Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, paramilitares incursionaron en el barrio Palmeras, donde asesinaron a dos trabajadores. Los empleados CARMEN ANTONIO BECERRA SUESCÚN y LUIS ANTONIO BECERRA RIVERA fueron asesinados frente a su vivienda por cuatro encapuchados, quienes les propinaron 1 y siete disparos al parecer calibre 38, respectivamente, en el lote 3 de la manzana 38.
